Bobby Ramirez's Debut CD "Ritmo Jazz Latino"
Afro-Cuban Jazz, more commonly known as
"Latin Jazz" has recently enjoyed a great resur-gence.
It has a deep history and has influenced many different styles
of music. Many Jazz and Non-Jazz artists have remarked on its
importance and influence on their own music and of its beauty.
Latin Jazz is beautiful music no doubt about it. Latin Jazz is
romantic and has a way of capturing one's soul as well as the
mind. What could be better musically than the swaying melody
of a tasty Cha-Cha or the Pulsing drive of a Classic Mambo or
the attraction of a Dulce (Sweet) Bolero? In my opinion, there
is no other musical form in the world that can entrance an audience
like Latin Jazz can. Today, we are very fortunate in that many
talented and dedicated musicians have decided themselves to make
Latin Jazz "their thing."
Personally, I feel extremely fortu-nate to have the honor
of meeting some of the rising stars of the genre on a daily basis.
It is exciting to hear new sounds and new ideas. I recently came
across an exciting recording by Bobby Ramirez entitled "
Ritmo Jazz Latino". To say I was impressed would be an understatement.
I was absolutely consumed by this great recording. I said to
myself "Who is Bobby Ramirez and why haven't I heard of
him before?" I could not take the disc out of my CD player.
This Talented, determined- to- make-it Flute & Saxophonist
has a great sound and amazing potential.
From the first tune "Sao Paulo" (an original
by Bobby) to the Classics of "Afro Blue", "Days
of Wine & Roses" and the gorgeous "Historia De
un Amor" this CD is full of fresh Jazz Latino. I can hear
the influences of the greats but Bobby has an exciting new sound
all is own. On this debut recording, Bobby has surrounded himself
with some top-notch talent from the Miami Florida area to create
his entree of hot Jazz Latino with a slice of soul on the side.
Other favorites that I know will become classic tunes are the
tasty "Uno" which features a beautiful duet with Pianist,
Daniel Zaremba.
Additionally, "Mambo Chekere" with its soulful sound
and excellent arrangement will become a Latin Jazz staple. I
don't like to use the clichees or one-liners from album covers
that state " Hey check this out" or the more commonly
used " Turn this one on for friends." However, this
gorgeous recording needs to be shared and played loud! This is
a must for any Latin Jazz music collection. This is an outstanding
Jazz Latino recording. If I was out there perusing the CD's at
my favorite store and saw this recording I would be crazy not
to pick it up. Bobby Ramirez is just getting started let's get
ready to enjoy.
