SINTESIS

The style of SINTESIS is distinguished as a unique integration of ancestral and contemporary sources of popular Cuban music. Their music contains high cultural and artistic values, achieved by bringing together in a very special way the elements at the root of Cuban music - the original African strands with the more recent styles of international jazz, rock and pop. SINTESIS is among the best known and popular contemporary music groups in Cuba.

The group has worked with many notable artists and poets, including: Silvio Rodríguez, Amaury Pérez, Donato Poveda and Carlos Varela, among others. Sintesis has taken its music to Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, England, Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland, Portugal, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, Puerto Rico and the United States. They have performed for radio and television in all the countries visited. Carlos Alfonso, the director of the group, once said: "We have a generational, cultural and ethnic commitment. Without any formalism, we have made our music in our way, in the language of our time."

Q: Explica como fue la formacion del grupo y sus miembros?

A: Sintesis , se formó partiendo de un Cttto Vocal ( llamado Tema 4) y tres compositores Carlos lfonso, Mike Porcel y Jose Ma. Vitier., en 1978, iniciando su primera etapa con temas en español influenciados por grupos de rock progresivo, No es hasta 1987 en que ellos comienzan a trabajar los cantos de origen africannos fusionandolos con las tendencias de la musica popular universal.

Q: En sus propias palabras, como ustedes describen su sonido?

A: El sonido de SIntesis, es la comunión de las fuentes fundamentales y sonoridades de la música popular, norteamericana, brasilera y cubana donde las fronteras regionales, se rompen por un indicador común : Africa

Q: Cual band or artista a influyenciado el sonido de Sintesis?

A: Son muchos, en lo vocal: Beatles, Queen, Crosby Still, and Nash y en lo instrumental: Peter Gabriel, Super- Tramp. ,Tears for Fears, Carlinhos Brown Chick Corea, Yelow Jackets entre muchos.-

Q: Adonde tocan con mas fruecuencias?

A: En Cuba y en europa.

Q: Cuales son sus planes para el futuro?

A: Estamos enfrascados en la musica para cine( largometrajes), promocional nuestro último CD, en varios países, y preparando material para otro nuevo disco.
